During the 2020 summer season, Avanza Sports along with the Real Madrid Foundation Soccer Camps held 6 across the United States. Avanza Sports is incredibly proud to have been able to successfully deliver the Real Madrid Foundation Clinics during a challenging time. Our journey started in St Louis, Missouri and made its way across to the eastern coast, ending in the nation’s capital in Washington D.C. Throughout our journey across the country, we had the pleasure of successfully bringing the Real Madrid methodology and knowledge to over 500 youth players.
During each of the 6 camps the players learned the methodology through training sessions, something the first team coaches and players do themselves. At the end of each day, players competed against each other to test the skills and tactics they had learned earlier on in the day, something that the players looked forward to most. Our staff had the privilege of assessing some of the finest soccer talents in the States, while also getting to know their caring and humorous sides.

“Soccer is an inherently social and physical sport. However, at the onset of COVID-19, soccer fields were left empty and players’ excitement for a summer season, games, tournaments, and camps became disillusioned at the uncertainty of what was to come and how it would look once they could return. Thus, clubs and camps postponed, delayed, and restructured their activities in hopes of being given the green light to start back up in a modified format,” observed our Minneapolis assistance coach Kelsey Tatarek, “With this in mind, the Real Madrid soccer camp more than exceeded my expectations of what a soccer camp in the age of COVID-19 should look like. Between each individual getting a temperature check and squirt of hand sanitizer in the morning, to mandatory mask wearing and social distancing when not playing soccer, I personally felt like safety precautions were in place and that the safety of players and staff were prioritized. Due to The Real Madrid Foundation’s preparedness in an ever changing and uncertain period, many soccer players were able to take the field, hone their skills, improve in character development, and most importantly have fun!”
